Oh, Felicia, I am so sorry to hear that!! But you know how it goes with patience, if it something that you really want -- praying in earnest, God will then put you at peace with it, one way or the other. Shoo, I still haven't crossed the threshold yet, because for some reason, my hair has been turning out so terrific with my natural styles here lately, it's almost as if it knows I'm getting ready to attempt locing, LOL!! But here is what I am doing now. Since I done my hubbys hair, I told myself I'm gonna do a trial run, just to see what happens. So, I wet my hair, loaded it with some hot six oil, then I parted it into some like some one inch squares and comb coiled it. It's been like this for a few days and it seems to be holding up pretty well. It's really very cute. I think with this thin curly hair of ours, the bigger you do it, the better it looks. I too have tried the small braids and it just looked stringy to me, but with the comb coils, it looks plumper, and closer
to locs, and I haven't had too much trouble with unraveling. I will get some film tomorrow, I promise and take some pics to load up here, because seeing is believing. And yours and my hair is so much alike, you may want to start over with the comb coils, parted a little bigger. I wish I was there so I could do it for you. Anyhow, hang in there, and even if you decide you don't want them, at least you put forth the good fight, and you gotta love your hair and yourself as you feel comfortable, and we gonna still love you too!! LOL -- thanks for sharing! P.S. are you keeping a journal? okay holla back,

Des, this is why I have been silent on the loc front for a while.
On May 5, I took my braidlocs down in the front.
Here's what happened...
I woke up at 3:30 in the morning and said, "I don't want dreadlocs". I
went to the bath room and started taking them down. After about 4 or 5
I came to my senses and realized what I was doing. So I twisted them
back up (bigger) and went back to bed. Well the next morning I
realized that it wasn't the locs it was the look that mind had. I have
realized several things from this experience.
1) I love mature locks and want them now!
2) I am not a patient person
3) You cannot predict what your locs will do
4) I do not like my immature locs!
5) There will be lots of days on the journey when my hair looks a hot
mess! and I don't like that...
6) My locs are young enough that don't that this is no real setback!!!
yah!
7) 3am is not the time to make changes to your hair
